Carcassonne: The Princess and the Dragon is the third full expansion for Carcassonne. The theme of this expansion is all about fantasy, as a dragon has graced the lands of Carcassonne, making life harder for the players.

When a volcano tile is drawn, no meeples can be placed, and instead the dragon enters the lands. Whenever a dragon tile is placed, meeples are placed as normal. At that point, the dragon will then get to move 6 tiles, terrorizing each meeple he crosses paths with, removing them from the board. The Fairy can be claimed by a player if they choose not to place a meeple on their turn, and then Fairy can then be placed on a tile with one of their meeples. This not only protects the meeple from the dragon, but gains the player 1 point if the Fairy is still in their control at the start of their next turn. The fairy also scores the player bonus points if its building feature is completed. Princess and magic portal tiles also change up the game of Carcassonne.
