All stories, in some way, are true.
Pockets of reality, known as 'recursions', spawn from humanity's collective imaginations. From ancient myths to modern fiction, they gather reality - and the more the develop, the more real they can become. Some are populated by husks that go about their existence, never questioning or comprehending their limited world. Others develop awareness... and with it, the potential to become dangerous.
It isn't just threats within these recursions that you have to worry about, but from without them, too: there are those on Earth that would use them for their own less-than-benevolent ends.
That's where you come in.
The Strange is an RPG created by Monte Cook and Bruce R. Cordell that is set both in modern day Earth and, really, anywhere you'd like. Players take on the roles of the quickened - those with the ability to manipulate matter simply referred to as 'the Strange' that connects recursions to Earth's reality. You have the power to travel to limitless worlds from your favorite stories, and gain pertinent knowledge of the reality upon arrival. What will you do with this power?
This RPG runs on the Cypher System and is almost fully compatible woth Monte Cooks' Numenera RPG - so fans of either can expect some familiar mechanics and can mix and match creatures from Numenera to their hearts' content!
